Your warranty and servicing questions answered

  1. Why did you introduce the Five Year Warranty?

The five year, unlimited mileage warranty is a measure of our confidence in the quality and reliability of all our vehicles. It's there to ensure that once you've chosen a Hyundai, you can rely on a first class aftersales service and enjoy years of trouble free motoring.

Since 2002, it's become a symbol of pride; a sign of the painstaking attention to detail behind the creation of every Hyundai car.

  2. Do you offer this because you think your cars are unreliable?

On the contrary -- we are confident our cars are very reliable. Offering the Five Year Warranty shows we believe the vehicles will maintain an above average standard of reliability over the course of that time span. It's a measure of the value we place on maintaining long term relationships with our customers.

  3. Is the warranty manufacturer backed for the whole five years?

Yes, the warranty remains a manufacturer's scheme throughout its life. A customer claiming in year one will go through the same process that he or she would in year five.

  4. Is it really unlimited mileage? Are there any restrictions?

The unlimited mileage is truly unlimited, for private and company vehicles. However, in the case of taxis, rental cars and couriers, the warranty is a very generous 100,000 miles or five years. Consumable/service and wear and tear items have a limited warranty. Driving school vehicles are treated as a private sale, and are covered under the unlimited mileage.

  5. Are perishable items included?

The warranty is a comprehensive cover for manufacturing defects. Excluding wear and tear.

  9. Is the warranty transferable between owners?

Yes, providing the car is under five years old at the time of the sale. The balance of the warranty goes to the new owner, subject to servicing having been carried out at the recommended intervals.

  10. I have just bought a used Hyundai that has warranty left on it. Do I get the balance of this cover?

Of course -- our Five Year Warranty is fully transferable between owners for the duration of the guarantee. 11. I have just purchased an imported Hyundai. How do I register the vehicle in the UK for warranty purposes?

Please take the vehicle's Certificate of Conformity and V5 documents to your local Hyundai Dealer. They will be able to register the vehicle's warranty with Hyundai Motor UK Ltd and let you know when the process has been completed.

  12. Will customers have to get their cars serviced at Hyundai dealers?

Part of the warranty conditions is that the customer has the car serviced and repaired by the standards set by Hyundai. The authorised Hyundai Dealer network is the best place to carry out such work.

It is not possible for warranty work to be carried out by a non-Hyundai Authorised Repairer. Vehicles must be serviced in accordance with specified service schedules as issued by Hyundai Motor UK Ltd and parts of an equivalent quality must be used. We recommend that Hyundai Authorised Repairers are used, as the Technicians are Hyundai trained, they have the right tools for your car and the correct knowledge. If a fault occurs as a result servicing at a non-Hyundai Authorised Repairer, this may invalidate the warranty of the failed part.

  13. How much will a maintenance service cost?

Our Dealers are independent businesses and therefore specify their own labour charges. We recommend you speak to your local Dealer, who will be happy to advise you of the likely costs.

  14. I have missed one of my services. What happens now?

Hyundai allow 600 miles or one month either side of the expected service date. If the service is not carried out within this time then the vehicle's warranty may be affected.

  15. Can I order parts for my car through Hyundai Motor UK Ltd?

However, if you do wish to confirm your cover please call 0800 246 833. Please note that the one year RAC Assistance covers only the car, not the owner.
