Hyundai safety

Staying safe means staying one step ahead. At Hyundai, we are committed to developing vehicles with passive and active safety measures designed to help prevent accidents in advance - and ensure the highest standards of safety if a collision should become unavoidable.

This is why, from the initial design stages onwards, we use a rigorous series of computer simulations to replicate actual driving conditions and predict crash safety performance. These are carried out not only to ensure the security of drivers and passengers, but to help enhance the quality of the car body shells and protective equipment.

We are global leaders when it comes to state-of-the-art technologies such as the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), which shortens braking distance and enhances braking safety; Traction Control System (TCS), which enables a safe, smooth acceleration from a stopped position or while driving by preventing wheel spin; and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), which makes safer driving possible by preventing leaning and skidding of the car during driving. Meanwhile, an onboard Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) has been developed to alert drivers to low tyre pressure via a warning light.

Our other safety advances include headrests that actively minimise whiplash and seatbelt pre-tensioners that restrain drivers earlier in a crash. Hyundai cars also have smart airbags that sense impact strength, driver's seating and belt position, and regulate inflation pressure accordingly. Side and curtain airbags are also deployed to reduce the risk of injury from side collisions.
